Chronic dieting, body image distress, and disordered eating
You do not need a formal diagnosis to seek help.
Signs You May Be Struggling with Disordered Eating
Eating disorders aren’t always visible — and they aren’t always about food. If you find yourself constantly thinking about eating, avoiding social situations around food, or feeling shame after eating, therapy can help.
Some signs might include:
Obsessive thoughts about food, weight, or body shape
Restricting food or skipping meals regularly
Bingeing and/or purging behaviors
Feeling out of control around food
Rigid food rules or extreme “clean eating”
Using exercise to compensate for eating
Avoidance of entire food groups or extreme picky eating
Emotional distress tied to eating or body image
My Approach to Eating Disorder Therapy
My work is rooted in a trauma-informed, weight-inclusive, and anti-diet framework. I believe that healing from an eating disorder means more than changing behaviors — it means rewriting the messages you’ve absorbed about your body, your worth, and your identity.
I use evidence-based modalities, including:
-
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
CBT helps you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. We’ll identify unhelpful beliefs such as “I’m only good if I eat perfectly” and work to gently challenge and reframe them. This approach helps reduce shame and supports more flexible, supportive thinking patterns.
-
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)
DBT teaches practical skills for managing strong emotions. Many clients find it helpful when disordered eating is used to cope with stress, anxiety, or overwhelm. You’ll learn emotional regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance strategies so you can respond to life’s challenges more effectively.
-
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
ACT helps you build acceptance toward difficult thoughts and emotions while staying connected to what matters most to you. Instead of trying to avoid or suppress discomfort, we’ll work on creating space for it and taking meaningful action based on your values.

-
CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy)
When trauma or painful experiences play a role in your eating disorder, CPT can help you process and make sense of those memories. This therapy supports you in understanding how trauma has shaped your beliefs and helps you reclaim your voice and agency in your healing.

Values-Based and Identity-Centered Work
Your eating disorder is only one part of your story. This work helps you reconnect with who you are beyond food and appearance. We’ll explore your values, identity, and strengths to support a deeper and more meaningful recovery process.
Weight-Inclusive, HAES-Aligned Therapy
I practice through the lens of Health at Every Size® (HAES) and fat-positive care, meaning I don’t focus on weight loss or body change as a measure of progress. Instead, we’ll explore your relationship with your body and help you find peace and safety within it, no matter your size, shape, or history.
You’ll never be judged here. You’ll never be told your body is the problem.
Virtual Therapy in NJ, NY, and PA
I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth so you can access therapy from wherever you feel most comfortable - whether that’s your dorm room, bedroom, or car. Virtual care allows for flexibility, privacy, and consistent support no matter where you are in your recovery journey.
Whether you're in the depths of disordered eating, unsure if you’re “sick enough,” or looking for ongoing support in recovery, I’m here to walk alongside you. Recovery isn’t linear and you don’t have to figure it out alone.
